Hello there,

after a while of absence from second life curiousity and the fact that I still pay 18$ a month for my land got me back. Now, before I left I typically sued a self-compiled client,, but now I don't want any big fuzz with it, I just want it to run.

The default viewer gets stuck on loading the Terms of Service Agreement. It displays at being loading until the end of eternity if you'd let it.

I am using original nVidia drivers. As it asked me wether I want to have the 32 bit compatibility stuff installed I answered yes.

So, is there anything that I could do in this case or maybe community viewer compiled for generic or intel 64 bit I'd be happy to know. Debian Packages would also be appreciated. :)

Alright. I got it relatively easily in the end, from www.bytme.org.uk. However, everything seems to flicker horribly as I rotate the camera. Is that normal using the OpenJPG libraries, or is it just my client? And, while we're on it, is the original client still compiled with some non-free, commercial libraries for the JPEG 2000 textures instead of OpenJPEG?

PS: Ah, alright. I see the stability is limited on my system. Guess it's compile or Windows. It died with:
/usr/bin/secondlife: line 42: 3963 Speicherzugriffsfehler LD_LIBRARY_PATH="`pwd`"/lib:"`pwd`"/app_settings/mozilla-runtime-linux-i686:"${LD_LIBRARY_PATH}" $LL_WRAPPER bin/do-not-directly-run-secondlife-bin

"speicherzugriffsfehler" is German for Segmentation Fault.

try downgrading your MESA libraries one point version, as this worked for many here.

And welcome back.

I am sorry for bugging you. I really should have known better. I forgot to edit the startup file, which naturally happens to have transformed into /etc/secondlife/secondlife.conf. Now the only thing bad still left is having alpha sotware in my main tree. But whoever made all the work making debian packages out of SL made a great job.
