The Second Life client for Linux is everyday a little more stable but there's no 64 bits version yet, at least not an official one provided by Linden.
I currently run Ubuntu 8.04 64 bits for most of my tasks at work and would like to be in world without having to reboot into the 32 bits version.
Any news from Linden about an official version of the client for 64 bits Linux?

You shouldn't need to reboot to use the 32bit version of the client. Just install the 32bit compatibility libraries: http://www.google.ch/search?q=ubuntu+32+bit+compatibilityOr, build a native client from the Linden-provided sources. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Compiling_the_viewer_(Linux) (which will get easier, once cmake can be used)

Thanks for the tip, a simple:
sudo apt-get install ia32-libs
did the trick and now I'm running SL on my 64 bits Ubuntu.
I wonder if there would be any advantage on running a 64 bits specific version.
Cheers.
