well i did some search for some hours but i cant find any particular or straight answer, so here is how it goes, i have the latest Ubuntu and i am a new linux user (spend the entire day today to understand how it works somehow) so i downloaded SL and got the nvidia drivers running, just like i used to in XP, but when i run it just like the instructions says so, nothing happens, nothing at all...

im sure others have run through this situation and know handy links with things or info i need to run SL in Ubuntu, so instead of going insane with frustration i am asking ^^ please help if you can

Normally, if you start SL from a console, the last text lines written by the program contains very useful hints to understand your problem.

Sl in Ubuntu

I'm running SL in 8.04 (Hardy Heron) on two systems.

First, install Archive manager if you haven't already done so. This makes life much easier. If SL ever submitted it to the repositories, even better. But I digress.

Once installed, open a console (terminal) ..or if you wish, 'command line'... and cd into the directory of where SL is.

E.G. "cd Second (then press the *tab* button, and it will finish it for you)" then "enter"

then type ./secondlife "enter" again.

enjoy! See you there!

For a REAL adventure, use the Release Candidate with the --multiple and start another SL in another window, use another AV (name and such) and confuse folks by being a twin! Start a sentence in one window, finish it in another... On the other hand, if you want to keep your friends, stick with the single character at a time.
