I am running Ubuntu 9.04 x64. I have noticed a huge amount of memory being used by SL. So far it hits between 1.6gigs and 2.16gigs of ram.

I run SL with max settings including a 512m draw on mainland but i never seen such high memory use for any viewer when running windows.

My machine is:

- Intel Q9550 Quad Core 2.8ghz
- 8 GB ram
- 9800 GT 1GB
- Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty x64

Anyone else noticing major ram use by Emerald?

I'll have to check if there's similar usage with other viewers in Linux; but I do know that much of it has to do with the way the cache works within Linux, as your cache is kept in memory until that memory is needed for something else.

I have 3GB addressable memory on my system, and have not run into any memory issues, even after 10-12 hours of being in-world.
