SL Linux Awareness stuff

If anyone has anything to raise arwareness about linux in SL post it here, I made soem flags, and am looking for some feedback

The second img is after Zi suggesting it needs a blue border, I like it, but wont upload anymore textures untill I get some oor feedback/make some more changed.

If you are interested in the flag as it is now IM me in game and I'll give it to you.

I updated the site, the flag is now for download in xcf format and licenced under CC.
Feel free to edit the image and upload it yourself.

i have been standing at the grid welcome area in ahern with a linux flag.

BTW, if anybody wants a Debian shirt, I put it in the LUG box with free stuff. Or just poke me in-world for one.

Can you send me a copy of the images + flag if you have one (full perms please) to me inworld and I will put them in the LUG freeby box.

Put it up at the LUG meeting area, too

Same goes for me I put some assorted geek shirts I made in the box...

Awareness stuff now has a seperate freebie box at the LUG ground.

BTW, we did have a permissions related problem with freebie boxes that anybody could add items to. Both freebie boxes are now owned by myself, If you wish to add anything, please pass the items to me inworld with at least copy+xfer permissions.

Hey Artemis, nice job on both fronts, releasing an xcf version and for the CC licensing. Thank you very much. That is really appreciated!

Edit: Oops, I am looking at this image and suddenly thinking that since it has an SL Logo design in the image, can it be CC licensed? I hate to bring this up, but better to do so than to have it errantly CC licensed.

I'll check that out, if it is a problem I take it out of the xcf, leave the rest in.. and you folks have to put it in there yourself

How about simply not licencing it, its not as if it has any pupose beyond the LUG anyway.

I was thinking that yes, as there will be problems with the licence on my part if people add the SL logo later on. because then it cant be a CC or similar licence, so that breaks the CC agreement...

Consider it public for fair use from my part.

I cant change the website right now, I will remove the licence as soon as I can however.

Let me add this also. Since you are publically posting this image on a website and using part of the Second Life logo image in your own picture, Linden Labs has information about using their images and more in anything you publically post. Specifically I'll refer to this quote from that link:



So it looks like as long as you use that statement along with the posted image, you are fine posting it on your site.

I am not trying to be picky here, just I myself made a serious error originally when I attempted to post a video from the SL LUG only to later realize it violated the Community Standards, so I figure I will pass along what I have learned to hopefully help others dealing with similar issues. Ofcourse, if I am completely wrong, disregard all of this. Thanks.

Yes, but actualyl I think I better take the image off entirely.
As the people who want it probably have it already, and thre are flags availible in world, where there is, to my knowloedge no licencing problems with this particular item.
