I downloaded the latest client: 1.18.3.5

It crashes every time I minimize it or if it loses focus ... screen goes black, and I have to kill the process.

System was working well with the older version. I'm reverting.

System:
AMD64 3GHz
2GB RAM
Nvidia graphics card with 512M of RAM
Ubuntu 7.04

Crashes on restore after being minimized

Same problem here. I also got a NVIDIA card. Work with a double core Intel. So would it be the NVIDIA card? I got a NVIDIA GForce GO 7600.
Anybody a solution??

Sounds like the effect I see when I try enabling Compiz, which I believe is enabled by default on the latest Ubuntu.

Yeah, this seems to have something to do with the v-sync or one of the gl controls in the driver. Checking to see which option it is to kill to stop this.

****Edit
For NVIDIA
X Server XVideo Settigs: Video Texture Adaptor, no check mark on Sync to VBlank

Use Video Blitter Adaptor Settings, check box for Sync to VBlank on display device

Might also need to be unchecked.

OpenGL Settings:
Performance
uncheck Sync to VBlank

This should allow the window to be minimized and come back. Check and uncheck these options and test out the client, so far this only looks like an nVidia issue?

Side note:

Unchecking these boxes makes SL come back from minimize properly, also doubles frame rate from approx 55 to 110.

TY Merrick for your response. I have en additional question for you: Where do i find those files to edit? You said some boxes should be checked/unchecked. I really did my best but can not find any location where to do that. Can you please be a little bit more specific? If you did not notice it yet; this is a Newbee in Ubuntu....snif

These settings are changed through the application 'nvidia-settings' you can type that in at the command prompt. It's somewhat similar to the windows nvidia-setup.
