SL 1.22.10 crash with IntelGraphic - solved

I experienced crashes of SL as soon I began to walk : keyboard no more responding neither mouse on a Dell laptop with Ubuntu 8.04 with an Intel graphic 945 chipset. It happened with the RC version 1.22.10 as with the beta 1.21.6 (but not on the 1.20.17). The only way was to reboot the computer.

The problem in solved by incomment the line
export LL_GL_NOEXT=x
in SL main script used to run the game

hi there, i am having similiar problems, where would you put the above line?? how?? and also would it work on netbook, running linpus lite, thanks in advance

With Linux, to launch SL, you use a script (you double click on it to launch).
You must do a right click on it and open it with a text editor (or left click and choose "show".

Then find the right line and remove the # symbol at the beginning af the line.
Save.
Launch the game.

Navigate to wherever you installed your Second Life folder, and open it. Next, locate the file named "secondlife" in that folder, right-click, and select the option to open the file in a text editor. If no such option exists, then you'll have to associate the file with a text editor (Linux is not much different f_rom Windows in this respect).

Now, I'm only really familiar with Gnome, so my steps above may or may not work in your desktop environment. If not, then you're just going to have to open a text editor and get it to open your "secondlife" file.

Once you manage to get it open, scroll down until you see the line:
#export LL_GL_NOEXT=x

Uncomment the line by deleting the # symbol. Save the file, exit the text editor, and try launching SL again.

thanks guys for the hwlp but i cant find the file you say. to run sl i go to run program by pressing alt and f2 and typing in .sl etc but when i get to the folder i cant find the file i would need to edit. i wont crash if i dont move lol

How did you install Second Life? Just look in the folder where you installed it (will either be in your home directory or in /usr/local/ )

i installed sl by openinga terminal and putting in the codes that are in my other thread entitled, how to install sl on this page. ill have another look, but sighs, is all hard work lol

It sounds like you where following my directory-naming suggestions at /263/58/309063/1.html, so the file will be at ~/SL/SecondLife-i686-1.21.6.99587/secondlife (Yes, that's the same file you'd execute to run SL)

i can move and talk with out a crash insight.

all that is happening now is that it can be slow and somethings dont come into focus properly, a lot of grey people and things, mainly trees etc, it all becomes clear after a while,buti am a happy bunny. thank you all so much *sends out a big sloppy kiss and hug to all*

thanks, thou i am hoping my pc will be fixed soon..... would you believe i managed to blow it up, thats impressive lol
so hopefully wont have to deal with the slowness, its like im constantly lagged!!!
