Although the client has been designed to handle voice, Linden Labs is still waiting on a binary blob which means. the viewer does not officially support voice yet. So you will need to wait for another viewer update probably for this.

You need to bare in mind that the Linux client is still considered alpha which means there will be bugs. We are lucky to have a linux client at all. But apart from voice, the client addressed many other bugs. I would suggest clearing your cache.

Personnally, except the voice feature, i have much less problems than with the Windows version, so i don't complain :)

Checking for an update on the voice in Linux SL

Has there been any progress with this? I'm running the latest version of SL client with Ubuntu Gutsy, and still just see the "Please wait" sitting there. Next to the input level indicator. I can hear the sounds through the speakers, but the mic isn't working and there's no glowing voice ball over my head.

Any thoughts or new?
--Edit --
I just found the 1.19 release candidate 4 SL client. Voice seems to be working just fine, and it was pretty stable for me.
