Hello all, I have the linux client installed, and sorta running. The login screen comes up fine. I can login and sometimes, I can walk around. Other times, I get only a few shapes, like maybe the base terrain shape. When that happens, I can only turn in place. I cannot walk or fly. I can not see my own AV, or anyone else's either, nor can I see any other objects. No textures are visible either. If I do get in and can move around. It will revert to the "only spin" state after some time. The one thing that seems to be consistant when it fails, is that I get TONS of the following in the log: WARNING: Packet from invalid circuit <IPADDRESS ORT> My net connection is up, and all other programs (and other computers) acces the net fine. I would love to play this on Linux, so... I would greatly appreciate any help I could get. Thanks in advance, Mal Gentoo 2.6.17.r4 Geforce FX 5200 nvidia-kernel: 1.0.8762-r1 nvidia-glx: 1.0.8762 Xorg: 7.0-r1

That is a delayed packet from a slow connection some where between you and SL, however it is from a simulator that you have already left so it is not valid. This happens when either SL is slow or the connection between you and SL is. Sometimes it is fatal to the SL connection but typically it takes a while to lose your connection from it.

Thanks for the reply. I dont think that the slow is caused by network issues. I have a 6mb DSL line. The other computers on my network can play it just fine. Just the linux box has problems.
Any other thoughts?

Does that computer ever have the problem at the time the other computers are playing SL? Linux also handles connections a little differently, TGP packets are rated higher than UDP, so if the computer needs to drop something then UDP is dropped first which happens to be what SL uses. There was at one point a buffering issue between SL and the networking interface for linux that only some people seemed to discover, though updates around a month ago fixed that. Sometimes it is also brought up when a sim crashes and comes back without causing your client to close, I've observed that just recently today. Is there anything more to the error message, what are the errors before it?

Try lowering the network speed slider in preferences for a start. Put it to the far left and gradually raise it again. Maybe SL maxes out your connection and blocks uploads.

Thanks again for the replies.
The linux computer has this issue(s) at the same time as other computers on the network can run it fine. I have turned the bandwidth slider all the way down, but there was no change.
I am not sure which error message(s) would be important, and the log file is huge, so here are a few of them that I think (in my newbie SL experience) might be applicable:
A bunch of these: 2006-08-10T16:48:02Z WARNING: LLWorld::addRegion for a simulator that already exists! 2006-08-10T16:48:02Z INFO: simulator_enable() Enabling 72.5.12.201:12035 with code 12507191 2006-08-10T16:48:02Z WARNING: LLWorld::addRegion for a simulator that already exists! 2006-08-10T16:48:02Z INFO: simulator_enable() Enabling 66.150.244.66:13003 with code 12507191 2006-08-10T16:48:03Z WARNING: LLWorld::addRegion for a simulator that already exists! 2006-08-10T16:48:03Z INFO: simulator_enable() Enabling 72.5.12.201:12035 with code 12507191 2006-08-10T16:48:03Z WARNING: LLWorld::addRegion for a simulator that already exists! 2006-08-10T16:48:03Z INFO: simulator_enable() Enabling 66.150.244.66:13003 with code 12507191
