Just wondering if anyone got SL to work on it or other Virtual Machines?

That's not going to happen. Not any time soon, anyway. Virtualization software, be it VMware, VirtualBox, Xen, Parallels or something else, does not emulate the 3D hardware that is absolutely essential to Second Life.

One must imagine and expect that some day a virtualization system will supply virtual 3D hardware, but until that day arrives, you'll have to run Second Life in an OS running directly on physical hardware.

Currently in beta from VMware:

Fusion will probably have support, since it is beta right now. It's BETA, so be warned. http://www.vmware.com/products/fusion/faqs.html

actually, virtualbox does do 3D emulation now.... and I am able to get to the login screen, but SL doesn't recognize the actual video card (which is a virtualbox card by name/chipset)... if the Lindens would add support for this video card, I am sure SL would work fine in Virtualbox. I am sure of it, because I have been able to play NeverWinter Nights just fine in my virtualbox installaiton of XP... I'm also testing out other XP games so that I can request support for the virtualbox video card for games that are able to load, but not play... just a matter of support now... :D

SL works fine in Virtualbox. That is Ubuntu guest on WinXP host. At the beginning it shows a warning that it can't identify the graphics card, but you can simply close that popup and it will work. Performance however is not playable, but good enough for a fast test without having to boot into Linux itself.

Haven't tried the other way around with Windows guest on Linux host.
