Don't know if this has been posted before but ...
If one has kdialog installed on your system, you can have a nice gui client selection box. I have script that runs sl .. a cut down version is here:
---
cd to_directory_with_sl_clients_below_it

client=`kdialog --radiolist "Second Life Clients" \
sl-1.18.5.3 Official off \
sl-1.18.5.3-CR10 Cool on \
sl-1.19.0.0-RC "Release Candidate" off \
sl-1.19.0.79185-WL "WindLight" off`
cd $client

./secondlife

xset +dpms
---
The xset dpms option turns power saving for my monitor back on after SL disables it. the kdialog bit starts the thing up with a nice gui menu of the possible clients I have available. Beware the quotes round the `kdialog...` bit .. on my keyboard they have to be from the key to the left of "1". And the line for each entry goes:
Directory_name Text_to_show_in_menu Default_or_not

At the moment I keep it up to date by hand. But it sure makes switching between clients a lot easier!

Just thought I'd share...
