Hello everyone, I have successfully been able to run All Linux versions of the SL Client under Slackware with the Alsa Drivers and also a need to get the Nvidia Drivers for the OpenGL to work. Tested successfully with the Linux Kernal 2.4.29 and 2.4.3.33 successfully. Sound requirements are no AC97, but a Full Fledged Sound Blaster PCI card it requires this for best audio performance.

I am quite satisfied with performance on Slack 10.2 Kernel 2.6.20 (Home config) and ALSA.

One thing that bugs me somewhat, however is that none of the clients would save snapshots to disk, or upload. And I cannot get a file browser to upload files either. Postcards work, but I wish I could grab bigger snaps to my disk.

I hope someone can cast some more light on this.

Otherwise, IMHO for an Alpha release, it is quite healthy.

Could you please post your ~/.secondlife/logs/SecondLife.log file after an attempt to upload a file?
Are you on a 64-bit linux installation?

Snapshots

Hi Tofu
I've actually narrowed it down a bit.
Everything seems to work fine in windowed mode. I am so partial to full-screen operation that I forget about the alternative (Blush).

Hmm I'm still on 32bit

Gigabyte 7VT600P-RZ mainboard
Sempron 2800+ AMD processor
1.5Gb RAM
NVidia GeForce 5500 FX 256Mb

I'll switch to FS mode and try to snap & get the log up here.

I changed resolution a few times (from 800x600 up to 1920x1440) all in FS mode.
In all instances the "Upload Image" And "Upload Bulk.." were greyed out..
On Snap saves, I got the shutter animation and sound, but no file browser or a prompt for filename.

Also, No snaps to be found on my disc (using ctrl `)

Ah, right, thanks for the info. Dialogs only function in windowed mode - this is mentioned in the README and the threads at the top of this forum.

Tsk Tsk!
"* UPLOAD / SAVE / COLOR-PICKER DIALOGS - These only appear when the client
is in 'windowed' mode, not 'fullscreen' mode."

How could I miss that!
Thanks Tofu
