Via byteme.org I have updated Open Metaverse programs to Synaptic Manager and installed from Synaptic Manager. I now have hundreds of omvviewer files in /usr/share

PROBLEM:

I can't figure how to initiate this program from the command line. I also can't find out which file initiates it and there is not READ ME. And no directions at byteme.org for starting the program.

If you're using KDE or GNOME, Synaptic has most probably placed a launcher in your "Applications" menu (look in the category "Games";).

To start it from the command line, just type omvviewer

Thanks. It doesn't appear in Games as a launcher even though my Synaptic Manager did install the third party Open Mataverse programs.

And the command fails.

Next I'll check Properties for these programs and write down their exact names to make sure I have nothing missing and check back with the byteme.org website for Contact information. . .

Any other ideas? Anybody using this viewer??

Yes, I use it alot.

I installed it by getting making it go through apt-get and such..

Then I just ran 'omvviewer'

What sort of error messages are you getting?

Commands?

Could you kindly respond with the commands from the beginning to end that I could copy/paste? I would be very grateful if you could do that!

Since this is a new OS, maybe I'll need some dependencies too??

Thanks very much.

Hello, you need:
omvviewer 1.22.11-1
omvviewer-artwork 1.22.11+dfsg-1
omvviewer-data 1.22.11-1
As root only write:
apt-get install omvviewer omvviewer-artwork omvviewer-data

Then open a terminal (as user, not as root!):
omvviewer

And it should work.
