Accounts don't cost anything and you can give a mailinator.com email address (not that I would!).
So get those votes in... |

Mack,
Wasn't sure how you wanted it sent, so I simply posted to that bug... looks like someone else did as well. --Val |

Not to sound like a jerk, because I definitely don't wish to, but I am suprised more people aren't interested in helping get this resolved. Especially in a time when the native client is in such poor shape and we've so little control. This bug is actually being looked at, so I'd think people would take more interest.
Sorry for the rant. I love you all. ![]() --Val |

There seems to be a decent discussion going about the bug, and some of us have already taken traces to give the Wine devs more info in stamping this one out.
I think the response has been pretty good, but if there are more things that we can all offer to help squash the bug, let's hear em! *longing for a bugzilla for the SL Linux client* ![]() -Bones |

Following up on this thread since the other one where this is mentioned is really about something else.
ninjafoo Ng. I don't think this is fixed in 0.9.15, at least it's not for me. What makes you think it is, is it working for you now? The bug entry wasn't updated and I couldnt find anything on the WineHQ notes. --Val |

Angel, YAY! Thanks! Everyone else should add votes too!
![]() I tried to test this a bit more extensively last night. So far as my experience goes, (on two separate PCs with different distros and different builds of WINE 0.9.15) the issue is NOT fixed, but may have changed a little... I wore some clothes I know to be problematic, both initially and after reload the problem is still present. However, some pieces of clothing that used to exhibit less obvious traits of the bug (i.e. small areas of transparency color bleeding), have improved for sure. For a more controllable test, I created a few new shirts using different methods of creating the transparent layer and also different methods (or none at all) of covering/solidifying the exposed transparent portions. I uploaded the shirts and wore them and the presence of this bug was still obvious and present... for me. If others, like ninjafoo, have seen the last of this issue, that's GREAT! Just need to be careful when claiming something to be resolved, it's obviously not completely so. Thanks, Val |

A workaround.
06-15-2006 00:19
I devised this workaround for nvidia users:
setenv __GL_FORCE_INDIRECT 1 ... at least, it did the trick for me. Quite a speed hit though. I'm pretty sure the speed hit is avoidable. This very likely works not because of the inherent indirectness, but because Indirect mode offers a subtly different smorgasbord of GL extensions which probably exclude the erroneously-emulated one. The exe could be trivially hacked to avoid this extension if identified. Hope that helps. |

0.9.16 seems to work
07-07-2006 00:06
Someone has posted in the wine bug report that this seems to be fixed in 0.9.16 - so I tried it.
!! it works for me too !! OK, being a coward I only tried it on the preview grid, but I tried several changes of appearance and skirts and other clothes and all of them seemed to work fine. So, it might be worth a try. |

I noticed some SLIGHT improvements for me, but it is defintitely not fixed in my case. Several short sleeve shirts still color the rest of my arms/hands, socks looks like long johns, pants have oddly long legs, etc etc.

it is defintitely not fixed in my case. Just to make sure, did you try editing appearance and tweaking the items in question? Sometimes when you get a bad texture bake it takes some tweaking to convince the client to rebake. *EDIT* Er nm, just tried it myself and it's definitely still broken for me too--GF6600 w/nvidia 8762 on kernel-2.6.16-1.2133_FC5 |

Still broken for me. Slackware 10.2/GeForce 7900 GTX.
Additionally, while the __GL_FORCE_INDIRECT did indeed smash my video performance, it also didn't fix the alpha bug either. _____________________

Just FYI... WINE 0.9.17 has been released, the alpha trans issue remains unchanged. Also, confirmed on the bug that no changes were made in the previous release to directly address the issue and any improvements anyone noticed are basically lucky coincidences.
