Suse 10.2 Second Live starting problem

I cant start start SL after updating with the new version. I get that answer from KDE (..german language):

KDEInit kann "/home/uli/programme/SecondLife_i686_1_17_3_0/secondlife" nicht starten.

Can sombody help me?

Try to start it from a terminal (e.g. Konsole):

$> cd /home/uli/programme/SecondLife_i686_1_17_3_0/
$> ./secondlife

Then KDE probably won't have to worry about it (except it'll provide the window decoration, of course.)

If the path /home/uli/programme/SecondLife_i686_1_17_3_0/ doesn't exist, you probably have to update the KDE desktop icon or K menu entry.

I downloaded the Linux version of Second LIfe today, but cannot run it. I tried "./seconlife" in the directory where I unpacked the program but says itś not there or cannot find it. How is KDE desktop icon updated or K menu entry. I am not very experieced with Linux and use mostly RPM.

Could someone explain step by step how to get Second LIfe running with Suse 10,2?

Can you quote the exact message that appears when you try to run "./secondlife"?

I am using SLED the enterpise desktop. I can get SL to launch but shortly there after it crashes my Xwindows any Ideas?

SL has recently (a couple of weeks ago) stopped working for me too on SuSE 10.2 x86_64. There must have been an automatic update because suddenly it started giving an error at login and there was just no way to go around it, it started with 1.17.something and it still goes on.

Yes, I have tried clearing the cache, removing completely the .secondlife directory, removing everything and trying somewhere else, updating the system, and all that. Nothing seems to work. I tried the .rpm packages too, but as I explained in another thread they do not seem to work for me ("secondlife-artwork" fails integrity check, if I install by hand I get a segmentation fault at startup).

Please help, I'm running Secondlife off an extremely crappy Windows laptop I'll have to give back in a couple of weeks anyway

In most cases this is hardware related and requires some tweaking of X.org But without specifying your graphics card this will be difficult to troubleshoot.
