Hi
I'm trying to run SL for the first time on Ubuntu Linux Dapper Drake 6.06. I have an IBM T42p laptop with a 128MB ATI Mobility FireGL T2 card, using the proprietary ATI driver.
I'm running the 1.13.2.15 version of SL from my home directory. I don't get any error, but all that happens is the Second Life winow opens and does nothing.
Any ideas why it's not working (note that I don't believe it's a network connectivity issue)?
The last lines in the console are:
2007-01-26T20:53:44Z INFO: Trying ESD audio output... 2007-01-26T20:53:44Z INFO: ESD audio output initialized OKAY 2007-01-26T20:53:44Z INFO: Audio output: ESD 2007-01-26T20:53:44Z INFO: LLAudioEngine_FMOD::init() FMOD initialized correctly 2007-01-26T20:53:44Z WARNING: Unknown control type web_browser
Thanks for your help!

Hi there,
I have the same problem on my yakumo latop. SL-window appears but keeps black.
lspci shows: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon R250 [Mobility FireGL 9000] (rev 01)
BTW, Windows client is quit unstable on this laptop, too.
Thank for help.

Hi again,
I solved the problem: I simple maximaised the SL-window. This redraws the window and shows the login screen. Hope, it also works for you, Desmondo.

Tnanks, Arunas, that solved my problem.
I normally run Ubuntu in 800x600, and that must have confused the SL window. I de-maximized it and maximized it and then got the login fields.
I then quit and changed my screen resolution to 1024x768 and restarted SL to avoid that problem.
