I'm using gentoo and since the integration of mozilla for the startscreen of sl the cpu-usage is from the start on 100% just for the mozilla-startscreen. Before the mozilla integration the cpu usage was by 0-10 and ingame 50-100%.

Now i want to know how i can avoid the use of mozilla-firefox cause just for the start screen sl isn't smooth on my machine.

Please help me and... sorry for my bad English :)

You don't have to wait for the splash screen to read it. Just login as soon as the buttons appear. Not what you were looking for but a temporary fix.

Yes but the mozilla-engine is allready loaded when the buttons appear.
I had a compilation error in mozilla a short time ago and NO firefox installed.
Then it came the old splashscreen and a cpu was down to 0%.
The funny part was that the game runs smother without the mozilla integration. so i think the integration is not completely unloaded after the splash screen or is used after it.

But please Tofu Linden give me a hint. Dont wanna deinstall firefox all the time cause it compiles horrible long :(

The mozilla engine SL uses has nothing to do with firefox. SL has its own mozilla libs.
As far as i know, the only way to switch off their integration is to build your own client with
scons DISTCC=no BTARGET=client BUILD=releasefordownload MOZLIB=no
