Ok, my gf and I just entered the Transformers contest and submitted our video Thursday and I have to say... it would not have been possible without the linux client..

Seriously, the car is about 1000 prims, the autobot is 800+, both of them are worn at the same time so the transformation is an animation plus alpha work... so the lag potential is phenominal...

Trying to make the required 1 minute video for submission was driving us nuts on her Windows box - she's got all the film editing programs.

Well we switched over to my box to do all the SL recording and lemme tell you, it was as smooth as you could get with my hardware setup, and it's not quite as good as hers! LOL

So.. linux still rules the frames per sec world in my case, and made our submission possible.

Shameless plug, please go see our video for proof... if you notice there is only ONE point where the tires don't quite keep up going alpha, other than that, it's pretty spot on with the animation... and it's already been judged and we're just anxiously awaiting results like everyone else, but still.. nice to have input! ;)

yea open gl is*nix native it always owns realtime 3d

my biggest example for the longest time was return to castle wolfenstine, on my 1.3 ghz 512mb Geforce 2, windows did 17-25 fps, with linux it was 34-67
