When I try and run the client in a Xgl session of xorg it says that I only have OpenGL 1.2 thoe when I run fglrxinfo it says I'm running openGL 2.0.6400 It runs fine if I use the Standard Gnome session
System Ubuntu 6.10 P4 3.0g 1gb Mem ATI Radeon 9600 256mb mem.
Any Idears

Any Idears Windowed OpenGL apps don't work properly with XGL so don't.

Regardless of what OpenGL version it says you have in XGL, from what I know you can't get full 3D acceleration in games while XGL is running anyway. So, as was already mentioned, you're better off just switching to Xorg for games.
My ATI X200m can run SL in XGL, but it's so slow it's practically unplayable.
