Ok so what are the advantages to compiling your own client? How is it different from the alpha viewer?

First of all.... I have my own client built from the open source codebase that offers me higher precision in the edit window. I have all of the edit controls set to be as precise as the SL network packets allow (because of quantization), making building soooo much easier for me. When I click the up and down arrows or use the scroll wheel within one of those number edit controls, it is so much better to have fine-grained increments rather than 0.01 meters or more I also have it set up to log the date in my chat logs. Why that is not in the main client I simply cannot understand.... As for cons, I simply cannot think of any, really. Perhaps that I have to get latest from SVN and merge my changes locally every time there is an update, but that is certainly no hardship. And since the client is for my use alone, I just don't see any cons.
