The new 1.17 Windlight client from SVN works nicely with it too, tho 100.14.09 uses openGL 2.1.1.
I tried 9755 and 100.14.09 with the Windlight client and the newer driver was faster by 3-4 FPS on average on my 7600gt. Not much, but its's noticeable. -Asriazh |

I haven't ssen a nice performance jump like the new ATI driver gives ATI's (now less) crappy drivers have a lot more room to improve on OpenGL performance than Nvidia's have. |

As another datapoint, I'm using nVidia's latest 100.14.09 driver for Linux too, without any problems at all.
In my case, it's the 64-bit version of the driver for AMD Athlon 64 on Gentoo amd64, and the graphics card is a PNY GeForce 8500 GT, which is a dirt cheap downmarket card that still delivers about 90% of the performance of my old 6600 GT while running nice and cool. PS. The new driver wasn't optional, as the 9755 driver doesn't support 8500/8600 cards. Morg. _____________________

Driver Version 100.14.11 is here
06-22-2007 02:04
Just got used to the fact that a new driver s here, and now there is ANOTHER update!
Release Highlights: * Added support for new GPUs: o GeForce 7050 PV / NVIDIA nForce 630a o GeForce 7025 / NVIDIA nForce 630a * Fixed console restore problems in several different configurations: o Quadro FX 4400 SLI o VESA console o Notebook LCD displays * Improved interaction with ATi RS480/482 based mainboards. * Improved support for House Sync with G-Sync II. * Improved NVIDIA X driver interaction with ACPI daemon. Lol! It seems LL is not the only company that believes in "Release often, release early" ![]() _____________________

Upgrading the video card
06-22-2007 13:18
Thanks to SL, I now have the urge to upgrade the video card (currently onborad 6150)
![]() I'm thinking of getting a 7600GT. Does anyone know if I can just drop the card in and the drivers will automatically detect and adjust, or must I reinstall some stuff or other? Thank you in advance! ps: I'm very happy with the SL situation on Linux. I think that the last hurdles for the current release will be video support and 64-bit executables. Maybe the latter will enable the former for people like me who don't have libquicktime 32-bit and other things like that. Max |

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I remember upgrading from the 6800GS (Palit) to the 7800 GS GLH (Gainward), and before that from the FX 5200 to the 6800 GS and it just happened

Max You'll need to disable the on-board (unless you want to run two screens on two seperate X11 servers) in the BIOS before installing the card, but other than that, the driver will autodetect it. _____________________
