Most of those warnings are normal for a brand-new installation, as ~/.secondlife has not been created yet. The only unusual warnings I see are the dialog box you got that stated you couldn't be logged on. Are you sure you entered the right credentials?

Other than the login issue, what problem are you having?

I already have ~/.secondlife in my home, since i use COOL SL, Imprudence and OMV, and them all allow the login.

I'm only having login issue: login failed.

Curious. I just looked through the deb file, and - aside from a few extra files to place a launcher on your desktop and Gnome menu, I can't see any difference between this and the official package one could download directly from the SL website, beyond the installation method and location.

You mention you use CoolSL, Imprudence, and OMV, and by what I gather, they allow you to log in just fine. So, what would happen if you downloaded the official tarball from the SL website, untarred it into your home directory, and ran secondlife straight from there?

The tarball from SL website works very fine too, as fine as the other releases i mentioned before, but i should be very happy if the new deb should work too :))
