Regarding your problem see:

/263/87/121829/1.html

Also, for your glx you need to install the proprietary ATI drivers (fglrx), not rely on mesa.

Thank you that was a great help (not sure how I missed that link for the FC5 and SELinux when I was searching the forums)

Starts but slow as chistmas. X server pegs up my CPU at between 87-95% usage. Tried on the Windows XP side and watched the CPU monitor but it was barely used, was that cause of the mensa-GL ??
and then before first area downloads (using DSL) get following messages

Message from syslogd@system at Mon Aug 28 16:15:42 2006 ...
system kernel: CPU0: Temperature above threshold

for the ATI ran a # yum --exclude=kmod-fglrx-smp* install kmod-fglrx*.i686 xorg-x11-drv-fglrx

There a setting I need to change?? again ty again in advance

CPU usage is generally high with SL..

The problem with the slowness is that you have not installed your proprietary ATI drivers properly. Do some searching with google about it.

http://www.motherboardpoint.com/t86741-success-ati-fglrx-fedora-core-5-hp-nw8240-notebook.html

make sure you have specified fglrx module in /etc/X11/xorg.conf, specified 24 bit default depth and restarted X.

CPU use is always around 100% with SL up. If you want to to make any real use of other graphical applications while SL is running, bump up the nice value of SL (if you have the system monitor docked somwehere, the easy way is to click on it, right-click on the process, and select, "Change Priority....";) Bump the value up to 1. SL still runs just fine for me with a lower priority.
