Well, first off, the problems:
- Many of the graphic options aren't available. - Graphics card memory is listed as 16 meg, and no way to change it.
But those don't matter, since:
- Getting up to 90 fps in some areas, which is 30+ fps faster than on windows. - Draw distance of 192 still gives me over 40 fps, windows doesn't even compare.
All in all, I might be able to get my wife to switch back to Linux....
Install was easy, just had to apt-get a few files including the glx drivers. Not sure what else to add, other than good work. The game is far more usable than it was before.

I agree! My fps is not THAT much better than with windows, but at the same fps, I get a draw distance of a full 512, instead of just 128. Its just a pity that texture loading (with a 1152 wide SL linux client) is so slow. Trees and things just sit there, blurring at me calmly and resolutely...

Using higher draw distances need more video memory to draw all the textures in that distance, but that considered im not sure that even manually changing the graphics ram in settings.ini is using the most of the video ram

From: Pantheon Lightworker - Graphics card memory is listed as 16 meg, and no way to change it. Change a line in settings.ini (see other topics on this). From: someone But those don't matter, since: - Getting up to 90 fps in some areas, which is 30+ fps faster than on windows. - Draw distance of 192 still gives me over 40 fps, windows doesn't even compare. That's probably due to low graphics card memory detected, though But as I said, you can fix that. Overall: nice work Lindens, but still some things to do! (Hotkeys, full screen, etc.)
