Fine at first...then everything gradually starts to flash.

Gear: IBM T42, 1.7ghz, 1.5Gb Ram, ATI mobility 7500 GFX.

Plain and simple really...when running in any resolution (with nearby lights on or off) SL starts fine and works ok for about 1 minute, but then the flashing textures begin on the floor, then the walls, and finally my avatar. It seems like its changing through every possible texture and pattern that exists.

The only thing that doesn't flash is the sky.

What's going on? Anybody got a fix?

It's too distracting to use...no-way would I play slingo with all that graphics madness going on!!

First I've heard of this issue - but this video card is not going to give you a good time with SL. Please consult the readme!

Hi,

Yes I'm aware this is a low end GFX card, but with everything turned down low it should be passable.

I'm surprised you have not heard of this before, there seems to be many others out there with similar issues. There is even an Youtube video of what it looks like in slow motion (i.e. like 500ms in duration).

If this link doesn't work, google for "second life flashing textures"

Slow loading textures, see through avatar, flashing ground.

It used to work flawlessly until quitting and logging back on around midnight. In fact, the machine was newly reinstalled the last time the SL server itself was causing almost immediate disconnections. I upgraded the client, both new and old clients give the problem noted above. Other people see me just fine. I, however, can see right though other people. There are no software changes to the machine, I memtested the machine, all is well on my end. It's new, it's snazzy, it's up to date and was known working.
Noted here that the problem mentioned above exists for me as well.
