Ubuntu 8.10 Constant black screening

Hey eveyrone

Im running Ubuntu Hardy with an Ati Radion graphics card etc, IM getting constant flickering over all or part of the SL window that does not stop.

Any known fix for this or is it an OpenGL issue?

It says "Goto System>preferences>appearance, and visual affects. Change it to none. Fixed it for me."

you lose all the cool effects if you do that. best to leave Compiz running all the time with all the cool stuff it does, but when you run an App like SL you disable it... easiest way is to use a program called Compiz-Switch, you can stick it right on the bar and click it to toggle compiz enabled and disabled. I click mine off for OpenGL stuff that flicker (like SL) when its on, then switch it back on when I can.
