I was trying to get SL running on a softmod XBox; I can get debian (xebian) running, but can't get the SL linux files transferred, due to one instance of a library file with c++ in the name which foobars my file transfers. So my next approach is to attempt to integrate the SL files into a boot cd, setup a script to expand the SL tar into the HDD image, and put a link on the desktop. Very noob to setting it up that way, so any help would be appreciated. Details: the xebian boot cd starts up the xbox, with the option to format a partition on the HDD for a regular install, along with additional iso images for booting it when it is installed on the HD. It's the secondary iso I want to modify to boot/install SL. It can be run without a boot cd, but again, getting the SL files into the linux partition is the trick here. Once it's done, though, it would be quite cool to run SL off the TV, that is, if the Xbox's architecture can support it at a decent speed.. Or it might require a xbox-linux specific build to latch onto the proper components. At least it's pretty much a standard setup.. Opinions? Implausible? Install Script?

Doesn't the XBox only have 64Mb of memory?

The origional XBox is Celeron 800MHz and a NVidia Geforce 3. Check xbox-linux.org
The newer Xbox 360 is a custom PowerPC chip designed for Microsoft.

Ah, that'd go some way to explaining why the backwards compatibility on the 360 is so poor.

Yeah, totally different architecture. Interesting that all 3 console manafacturers switched to Power just as the Mac moved to Intel!
The original xbox was basically a legacy-free pc running a stripped-down Windows 2000 kernel, which is how it proved so easy to get linux running on it once the protection had been broken - almost all of the drivers already existed.
