A few issues in the new version:
- friendlist is down
- im list is down
- longer loadings
- a few little thinks O.o"

And no, its not a hardware problem. you can show my systeminfo a few thread under this one.

I believe for sl you must use windows, all other distro. and systems are... bad (not supported)

i don't understand why LL wanted to support windows vista... when there are two instable and totaly broken alpha clients.... nonsens O.o

The problems you have aren't Linux-only

Since the update this past Wednesday, these problems have popped up. Most SL residents have been affected in some way, regardless of the OS used. The problems lie on the server side, obviously, so it's up to the Lindens to crack the whip on it. :)

P.S.- Don't sweat it too much though. 9 times out of 10 there's always problems after upgrades, so it's best to get used to it.

Then you're one of the lucky ones. But until the problems are truly fixed, it's possible that you experience them later. See this post from the Linden blog(http://blog.secondlife.com/2007/04/28/second-life-version-1150-issues) for details.

Mandriva 2006

1.15.0.2 crashes very often, while previous versions didn't - well, no that often -

ressource consuming : with the previous versions I could run SL together with the gimp and blender, now, it leads to frequent swapping, sometimes system freezes.

transparency issues : some objects show trough opaque parts of a texture with alpha, not really sure how to reproduce, but I know this wasn't the case in that particular place, its in my home.

On Mandriva 2007.0 I get the startup just fine but find it absolutely impossible to login. This has happened every time I try SL regardless of version: enter information, hit "Connect" and I immediately get an error popup:

"Unable to connect to SecondLife. Despite our best efforts, something unexpected has gone wrong. Blah blah."

I look at my console and see this:

Great. Wonderful. I checked (and rechecked and rechecked and rechecked) my router firewall and see that, indeed, I have the appropriate ports opened up:

11 Secondlife1 443 443 192.168.1.100
12 Secondlife2 12035 12035 192.168.1.100
13 Secondlife3 12036 12036 192.168.1.100
14 Secondlife4 13000 13050 192.168.1.100

Have the ports changed? WTF?

Addendum

I did add the new port to my firewall (12043) to no avail. I also have watched the router logs as I try to "Connect" to SL and see that there is absolutely NO traffic from my computer to the router, NO registered attempt, to login to SL. Whatever this repeat problem is, it is entirely isolated to the software and cannot be a real network issue.

Use the DMZ, also you open your port to your pc...
192.168.1.xxx <- the last number is your pc port ^^ that must be open (i had done it and it works fine)
