Was just wondering if anyone has set up a transparent proxy using iptables, and if that would indeed force SL to use squid without it knowing it... ?
Anyone? Huh?
>Edit< Nevermind. Apparently the vast majority of SL http data is https, which won't go through a transparent proxy anyway. Sighs. It was such a nice plan.

just on a side note... you can always try a ssh tunneling... https goes through port 443 (as i recall)... now, i am not completely sure what you are trying to accomplish there.. but i was able to do some interesting traffic rerouting with simple use of ssh tunneling and host aliasing... just my two cents.
p.s. if i am completely off topic, then no need to get angry =)

I'm actually trying to figure out if I can get Second Life to do this at the moment myself as I have Squid running on my server which would speed up SL immensly if it would, but I'm really not sure if it's possible to get it to go through it. Also squid will happily take HTTPS data too.
