Okay, im using Ubuntu 6.06 and yes, i have done the symbolic linking, but now i get this random error message about colour setting o.O

If you see GLX related errors, it means, that your 3D accelleration is not working / not installed properly.

Make sure you have the binary drivers for your graphics card installed, not the ones provided by your distribution. If you're using an NVidia card, get the latest NVidia binary release from http://www.nvidia.com/

If you use ATi, get the flgrx driver from http://www.ati.com/

I doubt that you will be able to run Second Life with a savage based graphics card. Second Life relies heavily on hardware accelerated 3D graphics.

The list of graphics cards *not* supported shows "Savage" as one of the entries, so I'm afraid you're out of luck there. Try purchasing an nVidia (recommended) or ATi card and try again.

I'm sorry that I can't offer a better solution.

I know of the Savage 3D cards. They came too late to the game, and are rather dead. I'd get a new NVidia based card, one with good OpenGL 2.0 support. You won't get any drivers out of them now, just like 3dFX and the Voodoo line.
