Odd thing. I had to re-install Kubuntu and when I went to the secondlife site to download the linux client, it takes me to a page that says: Now that I have downloaded the client... but nowhere do I see a way to actually download the client.
I've ended up downloading the release candidate. Is this a page rendering thing? Are the download buttons not showing on the web page or something?
... and now it seems that the client won't unpack properly. I get failed to unpack errors from ark. VERY strange.

Thanks for the reply (and the pointer). It was a pseudo-dumb error on my part - I hadn't installed flash yet (forgot I had to). Apparently the download 'pane' is in a flash app. Once I had flash installed, it showed up properly. Sorry guys.
Now I need to remember where to get, and how to install the proprietary nvidia drivers for Kubuntu. The default driver is working OK, but a bit muddy and slow to resolve the environment.

Seems like a whole lotta trouble coulda been saved using Debian instead. I could solve both problems in a one-liner: sudo m-a a-i nvidia && sudo aptitude install flashplugin-nonfree (and run for coffee!)

To add the nvidia drivers if they don't pick up automatically; use Add/remove programs, search nvidia. if fail. Install Envy NG.

If the download 'pane' is a flash app and you're not seeing a HTML fallback on your browser, that could probably be argued as a web site bug. Please file a 'web' bug for it on jira.secondlife.com if you feel inclined - thanks.

From: Arrow Hand I hadn't installed flash yet (forgot I had to). Apparently the download 'pane' is in a flash app. Is it? Looking at the page source and playing around with the NoScript-Plugin I'd say it's a question of java-script, rather than flash.
