Can everyone check their /var/log/syslog and /var/log/messages to see if they have secondlife-bin lines in their log files? I noticed this while my connection lagged badly and it was spitting out error lines left right and center (after I myself did the same on an unrelated cause).

Yep.. definately happens. Not a problem IMHO considering log rotation etc.

Privacy concerns

There are privacy concerns on multiusers systems with logging to syslog.
I think chat messages are logged as well, which is an even larger concern.

Also, when I was having the problems, 85% of the CPU was going to SL, 15% to syslogd. I can see an actual server (the grid) needed to log to syslog but the client?
