I have found by far that SUSE 10.1 works great with SL. the only time it doesn't work is right after installing the distro but thats easy to fix. All the missing libs that SL needs are available via the yast repositories. I use SL in SUSE exclusively now. I can't stand running SL in windowz anymore because it is so slow i can barely move around. In SUSE it runs great. Every thing is smooth and stays smooth. In windowz i can run SL once and it runs fine but as soon as i exit out and relog it goes to crap. (don't tell me to try reinstalling windowz. if i gave a crap about windowz i would have done that a long time ago. i only have windowz to play games and it works fine for that.) Sound works great. Streaming music works great. All it needs now is streaming video support but i have found that i can view the vids anyway buy running SL with a console window showing. All i have to do when it wont play the vid is copy and paste the URL into konqueror and presto. i can watch the vid. its not the same as watching it in SL but hey it works.

Note: this is running SL on nvidia hardware. Don't have ATI to test on so don't know how SUSE fares with it.

Abit KN8 SLI 16 motherboard. AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+. 1GB ram. Dual Nvidia GeForce 7800 GT each with 256mb ram in 16x SLI.
Dual boot:
SUSE 10.1, KDE 3.5.1 Level "a" Kernel 2.6.16.21-0.13-smp, x86_64. 8.53GB swap. Display Driver Version: Nvidia 87.62. OpenGL version 2.0.2.
Windows XP bla bla bla latest nvidia driver bla bla up to date drivers on everything else. bla bla bla try not to waste time on a crappy MS product. only care about it when im playing games that wont run in linux natively or via Cedega.

I'm running it on Kubuntu Edgy (Ubuntu with KDE), using an ATI card (and fglrx drivers).
It's running perfectly, and the only thing I needed to install for it was libdb4.2 from the repos, which I assume is pretty much as easy as yast.
I agree with it being faster: I tried out the windows client and was shocked by how laggy it was! The linux client really does seem smoother, although maybe it's just because the linux client has less graphical things available anyway ;P
None the less, I can now run it in a large window, with sound, and most of the time I'm completely lagless.

So I'll add Kubuntu Edgy to the list of "SL runs wonderfully!" distros :P
