I hopped on this morning just to try out the new release a little bit. It runs very smoothly! Only problem is it didn't draw my avatar at all. It drew attachments fine and as though they were where they were supposed to be, but the avatar itself wasn't there. So, I hit alt+printscreen to get a gnome-screenshot of the window (I've done this several times before... well, now that I look at those pictures, I didn't actually use ALT+printscreen, just printscreen). What happened next was bizaare, and difficult to describe.
SecondLife was still open, as was everything else. If I clicked outside the window, it didn't change focus. If I clicked another app on the taskbar, it highlighted itself as though focusing for just a second then switched back to SecondLife. I clicked around in there a bit, and hit an object (just plain left-click), which opened the build dialog. (I may have hit the build button somehow directly before, though.) I could ctrl+alt+F1 to a virtual terminal, but if I logged in, it didn't start BASH.
If X.org had frozen, that would be one thing, but this is just odd. Anyway, it's more serious now: I had to use Ctrl+Alt+Backspace to kill X, and now SecondLife won't start up. So, I reinstalled SL. No joy. Rebooted the box. No joy.
I'm on SuSE 10 with Gnome and had no problems of this sort with the last version. I'm not running any user modifications to SL such as the alpha channel hack.
Edit: I just remembered right after I posted that when I switched to VT1 while the system was acting weird, it wouldn't bring up BASH, but I went ahead and said "ps -Af" in case it changed its mind. gnome-screenshot WAS actually running, so I don't know if it's a SL problem, a Gnome problem, or a combination of the two... either way, SecondLife won't start now no matter what I do.

Edit 2: Also, I'm switching to Ubuntu Breezy tonight; ASU campus tech support has been getting people with illegitimate copies of Windows to switch to Ubuntu (with some success), and being the LUG president I figure I should know my way around what everyone's using. Anyway, I'm certain that will fix the problem (if not, ... wow.) but if there are any ideas posted I'll make sure to give them a shot before I wipe everything out. AGAIN, if you want to try to recreate this, just hit alt+printscreen when SecondLife is focused under Gnome 2.12, but beware, it'll mess your SL up.
Here's the output:
