We had a small turnout for the impromptu meeting on Sunday. They will be announced much further in advance from now on - RL stuff got in the way.

Parade: I proposed Bay City's route, which avoids the western half and we don't march the length of a regional border. It starts at the Bayjou, which IMHO is a grand but highly underused landmark. Meeting participants were sent a screenshot of the map.

Osprey and LisaHot had ideas for Nova Albion's route for a start, with one pending from the 'burbs.

Converging in Barcola: I will speak with Blondin about modifying the agent count with the BC Anniversary event in mind. Surely there's a happy medium between letting more people through in Barcola and not having it slag us down completely.

Promotion: Each community should have its own poster & banner (to allow residents to promote either over their shops or on a wall); the poster should provide a notecard with parade and party info and their parade route, as well as copies of said banners and modifiable posters to pass on. The freebie givers would be all perm and prescripted to give participants. Residents would just put their freebies into it and people could click and get them.

Freebies: Each community will have a Halloween thingie giving away seasonal freebies. Marianne and I will discuss jack o lanterns for Bay City. I thought we would all use the same jack o lantern but there was opinion that each community should each have their own. I thought perhaps the suburbs could have a nice Trick or Treat shopping bag left out on lawns or by doorways. I plan to make Halloween tee shirts among other things.

Party: I found the sim border between Miramare Bay and the Straits of Shermerville are a half sim east of the bridge. Should we just go there after the plunge? Depending on our numbers it may be in our best interest to split the population between regions since they're homesteads.

When a hologram posts a message, does it exist?

Reminder that tomorrow night is the meeting for TriCities.

Meetings and parade
10-02-2009 00:40
Hi guys - I'm so sorry I've not made the meetings - RL is a busy bee at the mo. I'll come to the next one if at all possible and I'm 99.99% certain I'll be at the parade - I'll publicise it on my blog and both Lisa & Sal can access the Nove Albion twitter. :)

We've completed the planning phase of the event!

The promo kiosk - created by skilled collaborators Molly Montale, Marianne McCann and Osprey Therian - has been completed and given out to group folks to pass on. Last night I sent it in a notice to the Bay City Alliance.

The Lindens should be placing a noncopiable version into infohubs and at the starting location for each parade. Today or tomorrow. After some talk Molly and I agreed maybe at ends of the bridge at Strait of Shermerville as well.

The group issue kiosk can work twofold: First, when clicked it gives out a notecard with parade info. Second, anyone can take a copy and place it on their land.

The notecard also contains copies of the kiosk images for folks to make banners and posters.

I think we're done here :) Next stop: Halloween!

I set 3 kiosks in the NA hub last night. It should cover the starting point for Nova Albion which will be at the hub.
Thanks Everyone!

I rode all three routes last night to get familiar. It's possible that in addition to all the precautions LL are taking by our request, we might not have to worry about Bay City's parade being in Barcola at the same as NA's :)

I have high hopes for this. We might just have the usual lag and no one denied. How awesome that would be!

Wewt! Thanks Holocluck! Mari! Osprey! Lisa! and everyone involved!
These parades are NOT to be missed! Seriously one of the most funnest mainland events ever.

Bit of advice from an seasoned(lol) parade goer. If you do get caught in the Laggz, just TP up the route some. Take a seat and let the parade come to you. =D

See you all there!!

I had Osprey put in a SLOWWW rotation script in the Kiosk. Just so all 3 sides get equal play to the masses! If anyone needs it let me know and I'll throw it at ya!
