I am working with a group of college students who will be studying the composition of virtual communites in SL in the next few months (with the permission of the community leaders of course).
Over the next couple of weeks they will be looking for communities that they would like to observe. I am just wondering if there are any further case studies underway at this time that I could put them in touch with. |

New Case Study Thread: Gorean Culture

Spengler, in a thread in this forum, we've started a case study of Gorean culture and its interaction with more "mainstream" elements in SL. Cultural anthropologists may find some interesting parallels with the study of the interaction of indigenous populations with "modern civilization." Over the course of history, we've seen instances in which "civilized nations" find those indigenous customs and laws exploitable, politically incorrect or even abhorrent.
