Pulaski Fizz and I would like to know if you're interested in coming to a meetup, live here in Houston. If there's interest we'll try to work out a time, and I would appreciate any suggestions for a good place to eat.

Please also check out the open group for Houstonians :)

I know you're out there! Many thanks for your feedback.

I would vote for something within the loop.. (610), though I live waaay notrh of Houston.. it gives those who live waaaaay south a reasonable drive.

I do see something near the Galleria

Where?

Cafe Adobe, The Red Robin, New York Pizzeria, Todai Sushi & Seafood Buffet, Wings 'N' More, and Jillian's Video cafe.

All these at The Marq*E Entertainment Center 7620 Katy Freeway Houston,TX. It is I 10 and 610 intersection on the westside. That is a central location that I think would work great.

I am for Cafe Adobe but any will work. I also am pushin for a Sat. lunch thing.

When?

The stars have aligned, I have read the tea leaves, and finished my gyromancy, and all indications point to a lunch meeting on the 24th of June. How does that sound?

That sounds like a blast :) I'll even see if I can drag my Plywood Partner-In-Crime, Moriash Moreau, along with me! Viva la Houston!

You think you've seen all of SL?
Plywood. What you didn't know was missing.

I'll be there, possibly suffering from assorted minor contusions and lacerations from the aforementioned dragging.

Just FYI, Cafe Adobe doesn't take reservations, and they will not start seating until at least half the party is there. Everyone might want to plan accordingly, esp. since they're perpetually crowded on weekends.

I met at Cafe Adobe a number of times for work stuff, there is a bar area upstairs that we can pull tables together as needed so I think we will be otay. I am going to get there 11:45ish to see if I can get it all worked out. I will not be wearing the metal arm my AV wears so I might be hard to recgognize.

Should we call someone to RSVP? or on here? that way you know how many people are going/might to show up.

If i can get my husband to go, I'll stay for lunch.
If not... I'll be the girl with super long hair, and baby b'jorn (???) carrier so say Hi! :D

Is the silber exit still closed? I saw a sign for it saying that it would be closed for a certain date and time. Is there a different way to get there? Maybe the exit passed Ikea and then come back around? hmm I dunno.

TXDoT says:

HIGHWAY I-10 Katy
DESCRIPTION Eastbound from SILBER RD to WASHINGTON AVE/WESTCOTT ST. TOTAL CLOSURE. Closed continuously from 9:00 PM, Friday, June 23 to 5:00 AM, Monday, June 26. Detour to IH 610 southbound to San Felipe and u-turn to IH 610 northbound, to IH 10 eastbound.
START DATE 6/23/2006

So, get there at your own peril. I am leaving at midnight tonight to insure I can make the 20 mile trip in time!

There is no rsvp but Brenda will be sporting a Second Life Print out, and the plan is to meet upstairs. I say plan, but we are that orginized.

See you there!

awww...man. I'm a new SL user (3 weeks?) here in Houston and would love to come meet others to learn more without looking so retarded by asking for help "in world", but I can't make it tomorrow.

Hopefully there was enough interest that you can pull another one together soon.

Wow, I just read this today. I would have loved to try to go, though Houston is really far for me. But the next time y'all have one, I'll be there.

I had a blast. There was only seven of us, but for meeting people for the 1st time the number was great. I enjoyed being able to talk about SL and have people understand rather than giving me the blank stare or the "you freakin geek" look.

Cafe Adobe food is average nothing special, but it worked for meeting. I am sure there will another one some time. I hope this next time we can get so Austin people too. Perhaps we can all converge on a small town between Houston and Austin.
