Call to SL's Live Musicians for RL Concert!

Greetings!

If you're a live musician who performs in Second Life, and are interested in playing a live concert in Philadelphia, please get in touch with me!

On March 25th, we are throwing a party in Philadelphia at Emerald City which will feature live performances - and hopefully an all-star jam! - by some of Second Life's musicians. We have several confirmed already, but would like more!

Any Second Life member will be allowed to attend in person, and the concert will be broadcast in Second Life, making this the first mixed-reality concert ever! It should be pretty fun. Some details:

Where: Emerald City (460 N. 2nd St . Philadelphia PA 19123)
When: March 25th, 2006 from 6-9PM EST (3-6PM SLT)
Who: Anyone!
Admission: FREE!

I'm working on making drinks free, or at least a damn good special. Any of you who attended Jennyfur and my post-wedding bash know what a great venue this is! Feel free to check the Emerald City web site for venue pictures; this is one of the premier venues in Philadelphia. We're hoping to have appearances by some Linden guests of honor as well, so come along and meet some of your fellow residents and community members! You can't beat the price.

If you're a musician, please contact me; we can't pay money, since we're trying to keep this free, so you'll have to be able to get yourself to Philadelphia. If you can make it to Philly and want to play, I look forward to hearing from you!

I'll post more details in RL Meetups as the event approaches and more details are nailed down.

Sounds cool Flip! I'll be seeing a band in Philly the night before, but trekking down again shouldn't be too much of a hardship. Especially for a free show!

Sounds fun, wish I could make it, but I doubt whether I could swing a trip to Philly (I live in the Midwest). Have you considered making it a blended show? Sorta like the stuff your buds at Electric Sheep are doing in DC this weekend? Anyway, hope its a bash to remember!

woah! i just checked out the gallery on the Emerald City page.. wow! it reminds me a bit of an Amsterdam coffee shop actually.

but in any case, i'm going to try to remember this date.. ooh! i have an idea.. i can put it in my MySpace calendar! lol.. i NEVER use that thing, but this would do well to remind myself of it. i may even post about this to the SecondSpace "forums".

In World I'll be doing a show on Feb. 25 and 26th for U2 IN SL! I will be the opening act.....we did another in Jan.

That's actually the WHOLE IDEA, Kaklick, sorry that didn't come through. The people AT the show will have laptops and be in world as WELL, along with SL residents that can't make it to Philly to be there in person. It is meant to be as much RL/SL as possible, with as many logged in world that are hanging at the RL event as possible. We're hoping to support 30 machines, presumably on WiFi. Flip's working on that with the club owner.

Glad to hear you're playing in world, Juel! Please contact NETHERMIND BLISS about participation as a musician - she's coordinating the music side. We've got me, Moe and foxyflwr on board so far, and we have the space available for three hours, so we should be able to accomidate another musician or two. I'd be happy to join you on some stuff (presuming we can practice a bit and/or you have charts) and I expect Moe will jam in as well. I'm hoping we can get a keyboard there, I may take mine if no one else is bringing one (Moe plays keys, too); I doubt the club has a piano, but don't know. It'd be optimal if you can be available early that Saturday afternoon to go over stuff; the show starts at 6 PM EST, so it's a bit tight on time that way. Ideally we'll get people together on tunes, and even some audience members for backup vocals.

That's great, though I was mostly talking about the reverse situation - I'd love to play the event, but am certain I can't make it there in the flesh. What I was thinking was working on doing the opposite as well and have the RL venue patch a computer in to the PA for a SL->RL performance.

Anybody planning on videotaping the event? I'll be there with bells on
