I got hooked on Second Life by a good friend (ZOMG! FIC!) back in January and decided I wanted to make it part of the annual science fiction con I help run, Philcon (the Philadelphia Science Fiction Conference), November 17-19 in center city Philadelphia. (Yes, east coast As such, we're going to try running a track of panels during the weekend related to virtual worlds, both in fiction and reality, not just Second Life. Hopefully, we'll be able to make this a mixed reality event as well. (I don't want to make promises until I am more certain we can deliver.) Unfortunately, the forums are going away shortly, so I wanted to get some preliminary information out there now, before they go *poof*. Psst: Hey Lindens! Especially Liana and Joshua! Our principal speaker this year is Charles Stross. And we usually have a wide cross section of writers, artists, editors, scientists, and technologists. Makes for some very interesting panels. For examples, last year's programming information can be found at http://www.philcon.org/2005/pro/.

Are you looking for SL residents to speak on panels or just to attend Philcon?

From: Jennyfur Peregrine Are you looking for SL residents to speak on panels or just to attend Philcon? Both. I'm also very open to panel suggestions, so if anyone has them, I'd love to hear them -- here, PM, or IM in-world. We're not currently planning on having any virtual panelists at the moment, though it is something I'd love to do at some point. (Don't want to stretch our/my resources too thin.)
