Was just curious. I know when I was flying Warbirds (a flight Sim). The Company iEN, hosted a CON every year. Here in the U.S. Different city, every year.

It was a great way for people to meet in RL. Many complained about it only being done here in the U.S., but there was no way they could do it Internationally. So those across, the Atlantic and Pacific had to travel. But it still was very nice. Large turn out every year.

Was wondering, as I am still fairly new. Does LL / SL do a Second Life CON? Seems like they should be making enough from our dues, to do it. iEN was smaller than LL, and they swung it every year. They even paid for a LAN setup, so that anyone who wanted to bring PC's could fly WarBirds from the CON.

I don't think LL specifically endorses any one given event, but the closest approximation to what you're looking for (I believe) is The Second Life Community Convention: http://slcc2007.wordpress.com/ which will have it's third incarnation this August (24-26) in Chicago. Based on previous figures it should have several hundred attendees, there is usually at least a delegation of Lindens in attendance, this year several "tracks" of sessions, Live music from several of SL's fine performers (in the flesh) and lots of parties - sound like what you want?

Kaklick, yes.. this is basically the official "CON"..

and this year we're looking at a possible 1200 or so attending! which makes sense..

the first year was about 150 and last year was about 500 or so.

we're also having a masquerade ball this year! also, unlike previous years, the convention will be held in the main hotel people will be staying at.

oh yeah.. this year isin Chicago. the first year was in NYC, the second was in San Francisco.

i'm not sure when the dates are, but i believe there's also a EuroSLCC happening in Amsterdam.. boy i wish i could be a fly on the wall there! lol..
