Well, it's only one more day now, and I am so excited I can't sleep. It's 4:00am and I've been up and down in bed for the past 7 hours. Can't sleep, having loads of weird dreams and butterflies in my stomach. I woke up and called Joe and he put on his cam, and I noticed people walking around in his house. It was his friend Cat, and Emma and Tom. Emma and Tom being from Films of Record. They were there to film him for one of the upcoming episodes of Web Lives. Cat is one of his friends who will be in the film with him today. He was just on his way out the door with them, so I was quite lucky I had a moment to say to him "One more day!" We said our goodbyes, but left our cams on and I told him have fun and I began reading my emails.
I started to think about all of the people from Second Life who we have met over the past 3 years and how over time we have met some very lovely people ( and also some not so lovely people - lol ) but we have really been lucky to have shared moments with so many of our customers and friends. Many of our customers have become close friends as well, and if only there was a way to meet everyone in person who we adore from Second Life we would. Oh well...
Tomorrow I leave to go to LAX ( Los Angeles International Airport ) and fly first to Montreal Canada, where I will then board a plane to London. The total hours from the time I leave my house at 8am PST, and arrive in London at 2:00am PST is about 18 hours. Only 15 of which is in the air actually on the plane. I will be landing after such a long flight, and as soon as I exit the plane and finish with checking in I will be immediately hooked up to a microphone and the filming will begin.
Joe will be somewhere else in the airport with another camera person and film people, media, newspaper, magazine... etc.
They will be recording us meeting for the first time. The couple from Second Life who built a shoppe out of love, using the income from every sale to help make it possible for them to meet. That's us.
I will be very emotional. Have you ever hugged someone after a long separation, to find out you unexpectedly broke into tears, because you were so happy? Well I have... and I am familiar with this emotional response, as I have lived the last 7 years of my life away from all of my friends and all of my family, and when I had reunions with them we all broke into tears...
I can only imagine what it will be like when I meet Joe, see him for the very first time. The man I have shared so much of myself with, who I have played Second Life with, and Lineage with, and RF online with, and World of Warcraft with, who I have gone on cams with and in voice chat and who I have not been separated from for more than a day since we met on January 11th, 2005.
Who I have dreamed with, created with, and hoped with. Who's life was changed when I met him on SL and who's helped change my life as well.
As shallow as it may seem for me to worry about how I will look when I get off that plane, I will worry... this is the first time he's going to see my face, in person.... though I am not giving it too much worry, as I honestly know he loves me for what's inside... I mean, he has never even met me in person... and he loves me all the same. Besides, I spent most all of my time on cam in front of him with no makeup on and my hair up a mess on top of my head in a little poof of a bun and glasses on. If he can love me looking like that, he can love me anyway.
1 more day......
