As we know, a lot of people are unhappy by various things in Second Life. Perhaps it is time for a strike? The basic idea is we pick a date, and on that day we do something, perhaps as simple as Don't login at all. Sim owners disable scripts. Store owners refuse to sell. Everyone goes to NBC/L word/Nissan/IBM/Cisco carrying picket signs. Personally, I like 'Don't login at all'. The point is to attract media attention to the plight of the residents of this peculiar virtual universe at the hands of its creators.

I think plenty of people ae not logging in
Considering 1 million more people signed up and users in last 24 hours hasn't changed much in the last few weeks.
There is a message there....

I like your idea, but it would be a little like the "don't buy gasoline all on the same day" emails we get from time to time. But picketing the big RL companies to get the attention on the issues is more likely to get some big attention at higher levels.

The silly thing is people actually seem aggressively opposed to other people doing any of these things, to the point of some even deliberately waiting to buy petrol on that day to attempt to sabotage a plan they proclaim is destined to fail.

Im all for picking a date and all tuning up on a high profile sim such as IBM and maybe even BBC Radio 1 sims , they love a good news story and the BBC would home in on this pretty quick .
BBC allso have 24/hour news channel's beamed to TV set's all over the planet .... oh wait .... this could tun into a massive publicity campaign that would just increase the numbers for LL and make more problems for us
Count ME out !! thanks .

The problem with a protest march or all going to the same sim is that it might be considered harassment and a violation of the TOS. But if the amount of money and number of people were to drop preciptiously for 48 hours, ... ...and as for withdrawal, we can always post here PS what does *moves to RLME from RA* mean? 8-(

The problem with such approaches is that they all assume that everybody's as upset as the person who came up with the idea - and this is hardly ever the case.
Every year you hear about a "don't go shopping day", or a "don't buy gas day". Boycotts like this on a large scale never - ever - work. The best you can hope for is to have an effect on a single specialty commodity. The minute you take on something with as general an appeal as SL to its users, you might as well ask them to stop breathing, or not use the toilet for 24 hours.

From: Lee Ponzu what does *moves to RLME from RA* mean? 8-( RLME = Real Life Meetups & Events RA = Resident Answers I think I misread the OP the first time, and thought they were talking about going to the RW places with picket signs. I'll move it back and close it if this isn't the case (we don't have a Political Action Forum).
