I´m an architect and planning a building (or a small city) for people who want to meet in person and play Second Life. This is about a real building in Real life. Some people already organize SL partys in RL, maybe they made some experiences which could be helpful.
Please tell me what kind of place you would go to in your Real Life for a Second Life meeting!
How should the building look like?
What´s the best place to errect it?
Would you travel to a place like this for holidays if accomodation is offered?
What else do you hope to find in a SL-city?

I´m new in SL, so any hints are helpful!!

I will analyse your postings and present my first version as a kml-file (you can open it in Google Earth).

Thanks for your help!
This time you might influence reality!

Yours, Heloise

Heloise, this is an interesting concept. However, I'm skeptical you could find a location which would accommodate a large enough portion of SL users to make this worth your while. Or probably more likely, worth the while of the company which is funding you. Any details about your motivation or funding that you can post would be most interesting, by the way, as I have suspected for a long time that there are many real life companies who are just itching to break into a virtual market like SL once it goes "big." :)

I'd like to know where you are going to build a small city.

The World off of Dubai would be too perfect for a place to build. sure it's out of the way... but, they have Estatae homes and they so closely resemble our own private islands in SL!!

as far as what the structure/s would look like.. that's easy! hold a competition within SL to build concepts of them! :D

more realistically though.. somewhere in Pennsylvania could be groovy. lots of land and area to build such a place where some SLers could move to and live at, while others could choose it as a vacation destination.

although the same would hold true for my suggestion as to what type of structure/s to use.

Plan for SL-building in Reality 2

Hello everyone,
sorry for taking my time, but I figured out that it would be best to have a Website to show the progress of this project.

Here it is:

www.heloise.de.vu

Let me know what you think about it!

I think Second Life is for now the virtual platform which offers the most freedom to its residents. That´s why I take it as the (virtual) base for my project. This is an idealistic project. My main interest as an architect is to renew and improve urban structures. So some of my decisions might appear strange, but I´m positive to find some ways of dealing with the connection from virtual to real. I hope to have some main principles in the end, which might work for a city as well as for one building.

I updated my website!

I tried to find solutions for some problems you mentioned. Even though there is still a lot to do, I hope to give you a better imagination of how a virtual city could work.

Give it a try:
