------------

Speaking of New York City, don't forget to stop by the Machinima.org awards festival in Queens on Saturday, Nov. 4th. Several Second Life residents have been nominated for awards.

SL resident Pierce Portocarrero won nominations for his film, "Game Over," in three categories: Best Virtual Performance: Custom Animation, Best Technical Achievement, and Best Visual Design.
Also nominated for Best Virtual Performance was Robbie Dingo for "A Better Life."

Eric Call's "Silver Bells and Golden Spurs", which featured several SL residents and Linden Lab support, was nominated for Best Technical Achievement and Best Commercial Machinima.

The festival will take place at the Museum of the Moving Image, at 35 Ave. and 36th Street, Astoria, Queens. You can check out the Web site, http://festival.machinima.org, for more information.

Join us and let's get a big Second Life cheering section together!

I guess we should find a way to identify ourselves to each other as SL'ers. How about wrap a napkin around the base of your drink when you hold in your hand.... that'll be the tell-tale signal that you're an SL'er. Once we have a large enough group, there will be no more need.

I'll be in the front right area, near the large TV on the wall by the window.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there!!

Well I stopped by for a sec, checked the front area, asked around a bit, you must've already left.

Hi Johan,

I was there! Sorry we didnt meet, but it was crowded and i guess sort of difficult to identify the SL'ers from the rest of the crowd. Next time, we'll all have to wear wings.

By around 7am there were about 15 of us there and it was alot of fun. We should definitely do it again!

Best,
Jeff

New Yorkers in SL

Oh, I missed it! But I was coming down with a cold, anyway (Avatars never get sick..)

I saw there was a "New Yorkers in SL" group listed, are you connected with that?

Maybe you can send out notices of get-togethers through SL groups, or by "private messages" through this forum (a lot of people don't want to give out their emails...)

bye,
"Dore"
