Who would be interested in a meet-up in Aussie?

With all these RL meetings going on I thought it'd be worth asking to see if something like this would be feasable to do here in Australia. I really know very little about organising this kind of thing but I'd definately be interested to find out how many people would come along. The next obvious question would be where? I'm in Brisbane, so of course I'd like to see it happen here. So often these kind of things happen in Sydney and I can't get away from work to make it, so it'd be nice to have something local. I presume we'd probably have to set a charge to cover expenses unless we were lucky enough to find someone that could offer a venue as a donation.

Well, I won't try to go into too much detail yet. The suggestion is out there. How many Aussie's would be interested in this? (Of course if anyone that isn't from Aussie would be keen to fly over for an event, by all means join in)

Sounds like a great idea Kermitt. But unfortunately I couldn't go to anything outside Melbourne due to my current life and financial circumstances. Don't let this dissuade you tho, it really is a good idea. Too little notice is given to, or organised for avies from the opposite timezone (Australia).
Good luck!

PS. Wouldn't it be awesome to actually see a Linden want to come along and meet us forgotten residents :D

Well I would certainly be interested. Depending on timing etc.. think it is a great idea. Maybe could make Melbourne or Adelaide the central meeting place for those from Western Australia in the West and Darwin in the North , and the eastern seaboard of Aust.
COMON AUSSIE'S C'MON!
If there was enough coming from all around australia...maybe some special travelling arrangemnts could be made..who knows? We are only limited by reality!

(My problem would be financial, or i am off overseas again to Africa.)

Yep absolutely I'd be interested in an Aussie meetup. Circumstances permitting though of course. I'm in Syd.

I'm more or less confined to Melbourne. Probably too shy to meet people.

Here's a good use for this...
http://www.frappr.com/secondlife

Get all the Aussies u know on there and that'll give us a good idea where everyone is. I know there's gotta be more Aussies in SL than this.

(P.S. Don't ya just hate how that map centres on the U.S. everytime u open the page :p )

To be honest I am not sure that there is even that many Aussies in SL. I have met one other in the whole time I have been here (since Feb this year, on another avie). I know I have invited a couple of friends to join, but they haven't stayed because of the US-centricity of SL, and that there was little to do at the times that many Aussies get on.
The one big bonus for us Aussies is that when there is updates scheduled they are at times we are sleeping, and usually finished by the time we get up and want to log in :D

PS. Yep, totally agree on the map.
PPS. Would still like to see a Linden show any interest in coming to Australia to meet us.......lmao.

I've met ten or twelve or so. A couple of which live quite close to me, apparently.

And if Nicole or Mick wouldn't show, I'd totally vote for Tesla :)

It almost seems too late to post; maybe I should have let this thread die in peace.

Since I haven't done that, sure, sounds like a good idea. Another vote for Brisbane. Or maybe we should just meet up in game to start?

Kermitt's going to be mobbed by the Tringo fans, of course... :)

Never too late. At least if we can't get enough right away, over time we might find the people to make it worthwhile.

Good to hear of another Brisbanite finally. I only know of one other guy in Brisbane and he's only in SL cause I invited him (we work together in RL). We'll have to catch up in SL sometime Ali. I should be online a bit most nights this week so gimme a yell if u see me online.

I couldn't even stay the night in Canberra last week. Parliament was sitting and every hotel and motel was booked solid.

Sydney for me. I have met around 3-4 aussies all up in sl so far. But I have been on for about 6-8 weeks. Where do all the Aussies hang out anyway? Or is it just that there aren't many of us?

We don't exactly have a centralised hangout. I remember seeing an aussie club at one stage, but I don't know if it's still there. There's also a group, if you've got a free slot. Try searching for australia under SEARCH > GROUPS
