On February 18, 2006, The Happening will arrive.
The Happening is a celebration of the emerging art scene in the H Street NE corridor in Washington, D.C., and in the city in general, held at R & B Coffee, 1359 H Street NE. It will feature music, poetry, art, dance, fashion, comraderie, and a general great time for all. It's also raising money for good causes - The East DC Fund (supporting arts in East DC), Rocket Guild (supporting regional arts in general), and Advocates for Justice and Education (supporting equality in public education).
And amid all this great stuff, The Electric Sheep Company will be incorporating Second Life fully into the real life event. We have a virtual recreation of R & B Coffee underway on our new Sheep Island, and we'll be streaming video of the RL event live into SL, while projecting the SL version of the party onto a wall or two at R & B Coffee. Streaming will be brought to you by the team that did streaming at SLCC. And if that weren't enough, special guest Phillip Torrone of Make Magazine will be on the scene with his wearable SL computer, participating in both parties at once. The wearable computer WILL be available for guests to try out themselves. See our Happening page for the full scoop on the SL component.
I'll be posting another post in General soon (edit: posted) about the SL event, but this post is to encourage local, or somewhat local, Residents to strongly consider attending the actual event. The event runs from 6:30 PM - 1:00 AM EST, and we'll be there the whole time. Tickets are on sale at R & B coffee and are $20 in advance, $25 at the door, and are selling quick, so grab them now. If you're elsewhere on the East Coast or otherwise not local enough to pick up a ticket yourself, but definitely want to go, The Electric Sheep Company will be buying many tickets ourselves, so drop me a PM or e-mail jonah@electricsheepcompany.com and we might be able to get you one. No promises on number of tickets we can hold onto though!
Questions can be posted in this forum or e-mailed to jonah@electricsheepcompany.com. Hope to see you there!
