Hello all.
I'm not an instructor or teacher;but I do have an idea for someone who is.
With all the diverse communities and nationalities in SL;would it be possible to have language classes?
I myself would love to learn a new language and I am bettin that there are others out there who would like to as well. Learning a new language could open up communications and broaden horizons considerably.

You could learn a lot (or not) about the language of love in SL... Plenty of people/animals/mythical creatures would be willing to teach you.

Seriously, I think this would be neat. Incorporate a Teamspeak server as well so that people could tune in for the audio stuff as well. Very neat idea. If I was fluent enough in a foreign language, I'd offer to teach one myself.

It's not without precedent, it's just fairly rare. I believe I even saw a class on American Sign Language once...

We're trying it!

I agree. This is a good idea. And we're working on it at Lingva Universitato (Language University). The goal is to teach Esperanto and other world languages via SL-specific methods. We also offer a "correspondence course" via notecards and we have a conversation cafe for people to meet and practice their language skills. Check us out at Esperantujo in the Shelter sim.
