Hellooooo
Now that I made it in *smiles* can someone tell me(in world)besides needing my instructors 101 class what's the next step. Do I make my own classes or can I pick from a list of classes? or What's the procedure in general. Answering here will help others with similar questions. Myself I rarely come on the forums so messaging me in world works best to get in touch with me. Thanks!!! hope to see you all soon

FYI to any who read this... I think she's talking about the TeaZer University 101 class. This class is not required for LL approved instructors to teach, it's something that TU asks those who wish to teach with them to take.

Answer #1: Linden only (not TeaZers)

So you have your approval, what now?

(1) Class Approval: The next step is to get a class description approved by the Lindens. You will want to write a short description of your class, including the title and a few things that you expect the participants to learn during the class. This report must be emailed to class@lindenlab.com before you hold your first class - but you don't have to wait for a reply.

(2) Personal Planning: Before holding your first class, you will want to be sure you are prepared for it. If you intend to have your students build or script anything during the class, make sure you have built or scripted it yourself several times. Write out detailed instructions in a notecard, ready to be copied and pasted during the class. (Make sure that each line is short enough to fit in the speech box - try copying and pasting any lines that you're unsure of ahead of time!) Try making any mistakes you can think of, to see what the results are and how to fix the problem (e.g. linking prims out of order, forgetting a semicolon in a script, not saving a copy of your avatar before working in appearance mode...)

(3) Hold Your Class! You do not need to wait for any sort of Linden approval before holding your first class. Once you have sent in your event description, you are free to post your first event on the calendar at http://www.secondlife.com/events. Be sure to arrive early and be prepared to stay late if there are any questions. Bring a smile! ;)

(4) Submit Your Class Report: When class is over, you need to send an email to class@lindenlab.com with the total attendance, time, date, and name of the class. Be patient, and within a week you should receive your L$500. In the meantime, you can schedule more sessions of the same class, or repeat these steps with a new class description.

Answer #2: TeaZers University

So you already have your Linden approval: how do you get a position at TeaZers?

(1) Attend Classes: Start attending TeaZers classes, if you don't already. If you are planning to apply as an instructor, make sure you inform your teachers and ask them to mark you as a trainee in classes you attend.

(2) Attend Instructor 101: As you mentioned in the original post, all TeaZers Instructors must attend a session of Instructor 101, at which time you will be able to pick up an application, as well as learn more about the hiring process and what to expect at TeaZers.

(3) Apply: Fill out and return an actual application for TeaZers. You will get a copy of the application as part of your Instructor 101 class, or you can always pick up an application in the TU Lobby.

The rest will be handled once your application has been approved. TeaZers instructors do not have to submit class descriptions or email reports, as the University has a standing arrangement in place to handle these things for you. As a TeaZers instructor, you will be able to choose from existing courses, or even work with the staff to create a new class of your own design. As with the rest of SL, the sky's the limit!

--------------------

Good luck! :-)

Good reply, Rini. One question:

Write it, and do what with it?

Oh my, that is an important bit. Apologies. My original post is updated to reflect that your class description should be sent to class@lindenlab.com -- Thanks, Zack!

Are there only certain places where instruction classes can be held? If I get approved can I do the classes at my own place?

I believe if it's your own land, yes you can.

You must own the land, be in a group that owns the land or, have it listed as a public gathering place.

I had heard you could teach a class in the welcome areas if you are a LL approved Instructor. Dunno, I'd check into that too.....

My instructor approval e-mail says:

"- You may host the event on your land, even if it's in a Mature sim, so
that you can kick out any disrupters. Or feel free to use the Linden
facilities at Stage 4 - Dore (247, 7) - or Oak Grove (170, 170)."

It doesn't say that you *must* hold it in any of these places -- just that you *may*.

ETA: I just send LL an e-mail to ask for clarification on this point.

Zack, When you post your class in the events calendar, there will be a drop down box listing all the permitable locations. You will be forced to select from one of them.

There's actually a Linden Instructor's Area...complete with arena, seats, the whole shabang! Check it out when you post an event, it should be listed as one of the landmarks in the drop down menu...along with TeaZers Lagoon, TeaZer Isle etc...

And YES you can create at your own pace if you are doing the instructors program independently. If you are doing the instructing with a University (i.e. TeaZers or ASL) I believe there is a minimum of 2 classes per week that you are required to follow in order to be an active instructor there.
