I just joined Second life and found it awesome. I never knew SL was out there. I've always wanted to build a tai chi web site for viewers to learn alternative health techniques. After walking around in Second Life, I realized that it would be much better to offer tai chi, meditation and Qigong classes here at SL. I believe I can make this possible. I want to buy/rent some land/building and build a replica of a chinese temple and teach classes there. I'm familiar with Poser, the animating program and believe its possible to teach movements and help others learn tai chi, even at a park. i think Second Life would be a perfect place to build an artificial tai chi center. I have been tried by top masters of Tai Chi and able to teach it at SL. After returning home and visiting SL on a dial up, I discovered the Second life is too slow on a dial up. I will not be able to do this unless I have a high speed connection. I live in Atlanta, Ga and believe and hope to find a way to build a Tai Chi center at Second Life. I hope a few would donate to the Center so I can start up a center using a high speed connection. Please suggest how I may go about getting such a center up at Second Life.

Hullo Dao, Welcome to SecondLife! As far as funding for your project idea goes, perhaps your current RL school would be willing to put up the $$ to pay for your high-speed connection, purchase of land for the training center, and monthly fees to keep up the land. Good luck with doing the form in Poser. The still poses are easy, but getting the transitions to look right is a real pain. I'm sure it can be done with enough effort though. You might be interested in the InnerLife project (located at Tavarua (193,154)). It's not Tai Chi, but we're doing stuff with biofeedback devices wired into SL and many of us are interested in stuff like Tai Chi and qigong as well. Personally, I am a student of Yang style short form Tai Chi and Wild Goose form qigong myself. I've been studying for about two years. -Ghoti

Great Idea! I'm instantly excited about the thought of a Tai Chi course or even a meditation room somewhere, where you can meet others for training and discussions. And with ambitious scripters, builders and animators there could also be real shows of motions in a correct training dojo. Wow, amazing thoughts! Please, contact me via the forums or ingame - maybe I can help you somehow.

Authorized Emei Linji Chan Qigong School

I assume RL school means my taichi school. Actually, I'm a student of Sifu Armstrong and Master Linda. They run an Authorized Emei Linji Chan Qigong School, certified by oldest qigong school in China, “Emei Linji Ch’an (Zen) School of Qigong”. The head of the school is Grandmaster Fu, 13th lineage holder of the Emei Linji Chan Qigong Sect, who was chosen by Ju Zan who was The Supreme Abbot of All Chinese Buddhism at the time. I teach the Wuji form and other forms taught by Fu. The form are a valuable asset to anyone's health and can cure many deceases. Questions asked at the Second Life may be answered by Fu's master students. I hope someday $$$ will come to me in exchange for free training in the Wuji forms.

From: Dao Tiger I assume RL school means my taichi school. Indeed. I was suggesting that you see if the school you attend would be willing 'branch out' onto the internet by creating a home here in SL. If you're in need of funds to afford the high-speed modem, the land, etc, it might be faster to get $$$ that way instead of trying to raise funds within SL. From: someone Actually, I'm a student of... It sounds like you attend and teach at a school with a very impressive lineage. From: someone I hope someday $$$ will come to me in exchange for free training in the Wuji forms. I'd be up for buying a set of well-done animations of the forms. -Ghoti
