How do colleges with *some* minors cope with the two grids?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I haven't spotted the answer anywhere.

I work at an educational institution that has a small number of minors (ages 16 & 17) that are part of the normal student body. The main question is: Would all of our minors and non-minors be able to attend a class together?

A secondary concern is that minors would subsequently be excluded from class activities in the main grid. For example: If students doing a group assignment wanted to meet somewhere else in SL, the minors would be excluded.

Are there any resources that address this issue?

Also, as an education provider that would be marketing to minors, even though they would not necessarily be minors by the time they arrive, what process is there for, say, setting up and supporting a kiosk in the teen grid? I've read something about accounts being teen grid OR adult grid, but not being able to move between them. Without creating similarly-named alts, is there a way to offer continuity as a (potential) student reaches 18.

A very good question.
I think there was some discussion of a teen/adult "shared zone" elsewhere on the forums, maybe search for that?

Post to Educator's Listserv!

Hi KrisJohn,
This is a super question! Especially for community colleges with large learner populations that cross the age boundary you described. I'd like to strongly encourage you to contact Pathfinder Linden and ask to join the educator's listserv. It's specifically for Real Life educators that are trying to use SL for academic work. I think your question, and the shared knowledge that resulted would be very helpful to all.
